Although Jeff is retired from ReUse Radio, NextStep is very grateful for Jeff’s input and insights into reused electronics. Jeff will continue to update us on Rescued Relics and maybe now and again, a Hall of Strange item or two.
Jeff earned a 3rd Class Radiotelephone License to become a DJ during College in the 1970’s. His first gig was at the Roy Rogers’ Apple Valley Inn in Southern California.
In the mid-90’s Jeff became acquainted with Lorraine Kerwood through an Old Macintosh swap list. Her then Macintosh technician, Mike Day, had begun to ask if Jeff couldn’t come up to Oregon from California to help what was then called CRRC with computer re-building and repairs. Jeff was versed in both PC and Macintosh computers and he bided his time until the opportunity arose to join the irresistible call to work on things he really loved working on.
Jeff is now the NextStep ReUse Specialist, overseeing the incoming donations for items that have reuse potential. “I filter reuseable items from household and business donations, testing what I can and forwarding what I can’t to others who will test them for me.”
Jeff runs an eBay resale program which helps supplement income for NextStep. “I delight in knowing that all the neat gadgets I loved to play with as a kid and young adult are still of interest to eBayers. And, I’m actually getting paid for being able to play with the toys of my youth. A rare and pleasant opportunity.”
